Zip ‘n Steam

Lets go back a week- I was on the telephone with RED a few weeks ago and we began talking about food. I asked if she had seen the commercials for the Ziploc Zip’n Steam bags? (and she did). I then said some smart comment about how they look very good but I am certain you are going to pay $7 and get 2-3 non-reusable bags. Daniel and I LOVE to steam our vegetables. Actually we just had steamed broccoli last night. Too bad Daniel took the leftovers for lunch today or I would’ve eaten the rest of the broccoli.

Fast forward to today- I droppped Lucas off at school and headed to Target because we were fresh out of garbage bags. I went to the aisle that sells garbage bags, sandwich bags, when all of the sudden this amazing price popped out at me. I thought no way can you get 7 LARGE ZIPLOC ZIP’N STEAM BAGS(10X10 in size) for the low price of $2.59!! Of course I didn’t believe. I had to go to one of the self scanner and check it out. Sure enough the price was correct! I was excited I almost peed my pants!!

For real, I had to use the bathroom- of course for all you dedicated bloggers, you already know that I always need to use the bathroom at TARGET.

Okay, back to this great find I seem to be veering off one again… (Gollum loves that about me, don’t you?)

I got home with the kids in one piece, shoveled food down their little faces and sat on the couch to open up my new find and read all about it. I only got more excited when opening it. They have 7 different recipes for my family to try. ALL 7 look great too (maybe because I am hungry?). And right in the little brochure thing it says if you want/need more tips and recipe ideas you can visit:

How great is that? I know all of you are saying- Yes this is so awesome.

It was a great day all around!

Here are some of my favorite items to steam:

For all you gamers that read this site, or should I say the wives of gamers. A LAN event is being held in Ypsilanti, MI at the EMU Student Center this Friday that will donate all proceeds to the Autism Society of Washtenaw County, a local branch of the Autism Society of America.

MPCon is teaming up with Gamers Outreach Foundation (GOF) to bring you Gamers for Giving, a combined event featuring the MPCon XX (20) LAN Party and a Halo 3 Tournament.

GOF is a non-profit organization which utilizes video games and other forms of interactive entertainment for charity purposes and community projects. There mission is to show how video games can be used to make a positive difference in the life of an individual. Gaming is fun, interactive, challenging, and is a great social tool that unites people together!

Remember the Games aren’t bad, and can be used for good, if placed in the right environment.

valentine-day.jpg

Timeless Valentine

As time goes by from year to year,
One thing is surely true, my dear;
Though decades come and decades go,
Just seeing you sets me aglow.

Time shifts my body; I start to sag,
When I pass a mirror, it can make me gag.
My joints all ache; I can hardly move;
Still a smile from you, and I’m in the groove.

Getting older can be a pain,
But with you along, I can’t complain.
Despite the things that we go through,
I know I’ll never stop loving you.

Your loving heart turns life to play,
As we laugh at time from day to day.
So I write this poem, and I’ll hang my sign,
Saying, “Always Be My Valentine.”

By Karl and Joanna Fuchs

LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH!!!!

taxes_large1.gif

I would like to report that the Hill family finished and filed our 2007 income taxes for the state of Michigan as well as the federal government. We finished our city taxes too and just need to put them in an envelope. Since Daniel works in Detroit we get to pay city taxes- yeah for us! Someone needs to pay for the mayor’s extracurricular activities for he and his girlfriends!

snow-day.jpg

Friday my kids were off school due to the snow. You may be wondering just how much snow did Detroit get to get the day off of school? Well it wasn’t enough! The great metro-detroit weather people said anywhere between 4-10″. It was to start snowing during the wee-hours of the morning on Friday and continue to snow till Friday evening. It did snow and I’ll give them that BUT NOT 10″!! I want to say there is about 4″ out there- not enough for the children to stay home. That’s only my opinion though….

The day wasn’t too bad. I got to sleep in (a plus). We had to friends come over and play. Their mother needed to run some errands for school so I said I would watch them so she could get it done quicker. We watch Back To The Future Part 1 and ate popcorn.

Daniel’s drive to work was uneventful (thank goodness) He only got to top speeds of 40 mph so it took a bit longer than usual but he was able to get there. All in all, there weren’t too many fights to break up during the day and the kids went to bed at normal bedtime of 8pm.
